Illuminate Opportunity LLC, founded by Brittany VanderBeek, operates at the nexus of business, higher education, and the nonprofit sector, championing business as a force for good and preparing the next generation for success. Brittany’s diverse experience spans sustainability strategy consulting at BrownFlynn, Michelin’s Global Leadership Program, corporate philanthropy and ESG strategy at Hagerty, fundraising and community engagement at 20Fathoms, and developing and teaching the Innovation Mindset Credential at Northwestern Michigan College. Through Illuminate Opportunity LLC, Brittany helps individuals and organizations innovate and make a positive impact on the world.
Brittany has been a pivotal force in collaborative community problem-solving, leading the Grand Traverse Region’s first Design Thinking for Social Impact workshop in 2021. This initiative has garnered significant interest and involvement from community organizations, including Northwestern Michigan College, 20Fathoms, Commongrounds, the Michigan Wine Collaborative, and various business ventures. The initial workshop participants have formed the Office of Possibilities, a group that meets weekly to foster innovation within the community.
Passionate about the environment and Michigan, Brittany serves on the Grand Traverse Bay Watershed Center board, is a Traverse Connect Creative Coast Northern Navigator, and has guided tours for Traverse City Wine & Beer Tours. She holds an International MBA from the University of South Carolina, a BBA from the University of Michigan, and certifications from Stanford d.School Executive Education, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Business Analytics, Social Entrepreneurship, and Global Reporting Initiative G4. A lifelong learner and avid traveler, Brittany has visited over 30 countries, immersing herself in Spanish and French languages, international cuisines, and outdoor activities across all four seasons.
